Christmas Lunch in Bergamo

Christmas lunch in #Italy is quite a grand affair. Families go out to dine at their favourite restaurants and a good time is had by all. We had not booked a table for lunch and were quite unaware of the special significance of this meal. Restaurants usually offer a fixed menu showcasing their culinary prowess. Though we were completely unprepared for the pleasant surprise that awaited us we made a very fortunate discovery. We were passing the restaurant Ezio Gritti www.ristoranteeziogritti.it/ and decided to ask if they had a table available. They were very friendly and welcoming and seeing that we were tourists accommodated us and our dog at a very nice corner table. There were modern Christmas decorations everywhere and the tables were beautifully decorated as well. They informed us that there was a fixed seven course menu including cheese and coffee and left it upto us if we wished to stay or leave. We stayed and had a wonderful experience. Every course was prepared with meticulous attention and served with the spirit one would hope for on Christmas day. Lunch started at 13:00 and extended till 17:00! We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas meal as did our dog Nikhil. The staff spoiled him with snacks served in a lovely bowl and made sure he had plenty of water. The Maitre D' is a very charming man and extremely attentive. He went out of his way to help us find the most suitable wines to accompany our meal. We highly recommend a visit to this restaurant which is in the lower town of #Bergamo.
