We recently discovered the astoundingly beautiful #Weisstannental thanks to border restrictions which forced us to investigate the treasures of our own country! We all have the tendency to travel to foreign lands in search of wonder and adventure while taking the beauty just around the corner for granted. We heard about the Weisstannental from a friend who lives in the area and are so very pleased that we took the time to visit it this Whitsun weekend.
It is difficult to do justice to the natural beauty of this area with words or pictures. The #waterfalls and lush green slopes interspersed with gigantic cliffs, some bearing the remnants of last winters' snow, are all just #breathtaking.
There are plenty of opportunities for a leisurely stroll or a more challenging hike. As usual in Switzerland, all routes are clearly marked with distance and the expected time to traverse them. Along the way happy cows and goats with their bells clinging joyfully and the occasional hiker or picnicking family rounds off the experience perfectly.
We think this is a very special experience for the senses and not to be missed. For those who absolutely must have mobile connection, however, the beauty of this area may not be enough compensation. Absolutely no mobile reception for miles!
Getting there can be quite adventurous in a larger vehicle like EnRiCo, as can be seen from the video below. However with a little care and driving skill contributed by Elmar, we manged it without any problem. The locals are very friendly and waited patiently for us to pass when roads were a bit narrow.
